~ Rockin' Real Estate - part deux ~
As the saying goes,
"A wise man builds his house upon a rock."
Yah, but.....why bring the CAR??!!!
OK, jokes aside, let's star the tour!
Yah, but.....why bring the CAR??!!!
OK, jokes aside, let's star the tour!
Chapel in the Rock, Sedona, Arizona, USA
Chapel in the Rock, interior.
Upon volcanic rock, Hawaii, USA
Merrill Wright House, San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State, USA
A wise man built the Wright House upon a rock.
This house takes the prize - built upon a seriously large 'rock'. Also, gets an A+ for stealth. ;) Find it?
Stickler for a sound foundation.....that, or an issue with neighbors.....any neighbors.
The windows look awesome a night!
Hermit house extraordinaire; better hope medical help is never needed.
Not exactly upon a rock, but will between two rocks, do? I love this rockin' real estate!
A miner's home, Klein, Montana, USA
This is the literal physical and social definition of "Between a rock and a hard place."
The following homes are technically built upon rock, but they're pushing it.....
Livin' on the Edge
Monastery atop Katskhi Pillar, Chiatura, Imereti, Georgia
Chapel of Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe in Aiguilhe, France
Get this, it's built upon a volcanic plug! 279 feet above the rest of the town. Amazing...for many reasons.
Dar Al Hajar, Rock Palace, Yemen
They say this palace has 13 sides.....
- nope, I don't believe it.....there is way more.
And then some! Sheesh
Somewhere in China.
Yah, 'crazy' somewhere!
I'm starting to think it's not so much about
building upon a rock.....it's about the vista.
No idea what the aim of this house is; built upon half a rock? Living off the edge? The view? Whatever, but I bet the property taxes are low....hardy built upon any property!
Island of St. Marko, (Stradioti) Tivat
Yah, it's the view, alright.
Yemen
A hotel on Ascher Cliff, Switzerland
WOW
While the buildings we just toured may have been all about location, location, location.....those up next are about simplicity.
RUSTIC
Simple building materials.
Simple design; airy.
Rustic look.
Drafty.
Fixer-upper.
Ugh. Let's move on.
How about some Half -n- Half?
Half rock...
- half house.
Uh, mostly rock.
I'm missing the point.....why, what, ...was this necessary?
Half in the rock.
Next we have some real estate that will please those that prefer to preserve the environment as it is - work with it, not against it.
Live and Let Live
The town of Setenil de las Bodegas, Cadiz, Spain
I think I'd always feel like something is looming.
The Portugal Village of Monsanto is built among the rocks.
Amazing, but it looks like the aftermath of a horrible, horrible rock slide.
I am fascinated by theses particular houses...I just can't believe anyone would say, "Ah-yup, this looks like a good place to build a home."
That one home almost disappears when the trees are in season. !
I wonder if they carved up into those rocks and added another floor to the house?
Stealth, B+
Hey, that looks like.....
- this! We have that does art imitate life or life imitate art conundrum thing going on here.
HA! Dude forgot to bring his level to work or he had one too many the night before and for lunch! Look at the windows!
Use what the environment gives you and then build around it. Waste not, want not.
To round out the tour is the highly
sought-after rockin' real estate.....
BEACH FRONT on the ROCKS
Probably best as a rental; if not, best check the insurance and see if the policy covers "Acts of God." Key words: Tropical Storm, Hurricane, Typhoon, Monsoon Season, Tsunami, Water Damage, etc. Aw heck, you better check and see if even High Tide is covered, you never know.
A fixer-upper, but hey, it's a tropical beach! Note: Check insurance coverage (see above).
Excellent - room for expansion!
Now, moving more into "Ocean Front Property."
Ever given much thought to living in a lighthouse?
Lonely or Private, depends on how you see it.
Living in the Bay
Lakeside
Drina River, near the town of Bajina Basta, Serbia
Here we even have 'Mid-River Front' Property. Weird.
Ok, that wraps up the photo tour of building on, under, in, around, between, with and of rocks. In other words, Rockin' Real Estate!
Thanks for joining me.
Thanks for the cool tour. I'd some of those places.
